The genuine Mercedes phone cradle is for connecting an iPhone (NOT 3G/3GS) to a car with phone wiring. If you also have an iPod kit or Media Interface in the car, then that will also connect to this with an optional extra cable. It charges the iPhone, thus meaning the iPhone's battery won't go flat on you. It is wider than most phone cradles because of the shape of the iPhone, so will not work with the A & B class cars with the narrow phone drawer and the SLK. It will not work with older cars (build mainly before mid 2004) even with the exchangable cradle system, so please make sure that your car is in the list below.
